Circles are self-organized and run by members of the Medi Club community. Anyone can become an organizer of a pre-existing Circle or start a new Circle. See below on how to get involved and be sure to check out our quick FAQ.

If you’d like to co-organize a pre-existing Circle:

  • STEP 1: Fill out the Welcome Form
  • STEP 2: Go to the Circle you’d like to co-organize and introduce yourself to one of the organizers! Let them know you want to organize with them and they'll share next steps

If you’d like to start your own Circle (in a new neighborhood or on a new theme):

  • STEP 1: Fill out the Welcome Form
  • STEP 2: Attend at least 2 pre-existing Circles
  • NOTE: A minimum of 3 co-organizers is required to start a new Circle. Don’t have your other co-organizers? Use the Welcome Form to find other people looking for co-organizers

Circles FAQ

Q: WHAT IS AN ORGANIZER, A LEAD, AN ATTENDEE AND A POD?

ORGANIZER: Every circle has a minimum of 4 organizers. Organizers are responsible for making sure that the Circle happens each week (if not all organizers can be there, the organizer group makes sure that at least 2 can attend). Organizer roles include opening the circle location, leading the circle guidesheet, leading the meditation, sharing the four agreements and kicking off the opening share at the circle. Organizers fill any “attendee roles” if attendees are not able to do them.

LEAD: Every group of organizers has at least 1 lead. The lead communicates the Circle’s locations to Medi Club for the Master Circle Schedule, makes sure that organizers are on board for the circles that are happening each week, works with co-organizers to find locations, communicates with the location owners. A circle can have more than 1 lead, and the lead role can rotate!

ATTENDEE: Anyone who attends the circle but is not involved in organizing behind the scenes. Attendee roles are optional and include duties like set up, greeting, bringing snacks, timekeeper, breakdown/clean up, etc.

POD: A group of organizers in a neighborhood/ theme that work together to organize circle logistics for their neighborhood, lead by the group lead.

Q: WHAT'S THE TIME COMMITMENT AS AN ORGANIZER?

A: Circles meet weekly for 90 minutes. We know that you are busy and we don't expect you to be able to attend every weekly circle that your group organizes! We just ask that you communicate with your lead when you can’t make a circle due to travel or other life things. As an organizer, we expect you to be responsive to your lead's emails, to attend circles regularly and to read the emails / communication platform that your pod has decided on - budget about 15 minutes a week for logistics and planning. Once a month, Medi Club hosts a dinner and hangout for our organizer family (one of our fav things about Circles) to discuss leadership learnings from our circles. We expect our organizers to attend when they are in town.

Q: HOW DO I BECOME THE LEAD ORGANIZER IN MY GROUP?

A: Love your enthusiasm! We see leading as a revolving responsibility. Talk to the current lead about co-leading with them or taking over when their commitment is up!

Q: WHAT IF I BECOME AN ORGANIZER BUT THEN DECIDE I WANT TO TAKE A BREAK OR STOP?

A: We get it! Life happens. While we'd like for each organizer to commit to 2 months, we understand unavoidable things may come up, or you find that circles aren't for you. Please let your co-organizers and lead know ASAP so that they can adjust accordingly.

Q: WHAT IF I WANT TO SWITCH CIRCLES?

A: All good - just communicate to your pod and pod lead ASAP. We'd definitely recommend giving your circle a chance before moving on :)

Q: WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR DOING A THEME CIRCLE?

A: Pick a theme directly related to what's going on in your life (Eg - Career Transition Circle, Break Up Circle, Women's Specific Circle). When choosing your Circle theme, remember that your circle will be meeting weekly -- so we suggest you pick a theme that has depth for exploration! And then follow the steps at the top of this page to start your Circle!
